PREVENTION AND TREATMENT

There is currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus infection. The best way to prevent infection is to avoid exposure to this virus. Protect your health and that of your family. Follow these recommendations:

Stay informed with reliable sources.

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

Avoid close contact with sick people. Keep a distance of at least 6 feet.

When coughing or sneezing, cover your mouth with a tissue, and throw the tissue away.

Clean and disinfect objects and surfaces frequently.

If you have a fever or symptoms of a respiratory illness, cough or shortness of breath, have been in contact with a person at risk of coronavirus, or if you live in or have recently traveled to a country where coronavirus has been reported, contact your healthcare provider or doctor by phone and tell them about your recent trip or contact. Your healthcare provider will give you instructions on where to go, and coordinate with the Puerto Rico Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to determine if you need to get tested for COVID-19.
